Osteopathy is an established, recognized system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body.

When joints and muscles become displaced or strained, this can interfere with your whole body’s working balance.

Osteopathy’s main strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed and treated from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint to restore this balance.

When you visit an Osteopath for the first time a full case history will be taken and you will be given an examination. You will be asked to perform a series of movements then the osteopath will use a highly developed sense of touch to identify any points of weakness or excessive strain throughout the body.

Additional tests such as blood pressure may be performed and you may be referred for investigations such as X-rays or blood tests. A full diagnosis will be made to allow a treatment plan to be geared to you as an individual.

Osteopathy uses massage, rhythmic joint movements and high velocity thrusts. Advice on posture, exercise and lifestyle will be given.
