Part of the lesson may include you lying down in the classic Alexander Technique semi-supine position – allowing maximum support and relief for the back.

The Technique involves no specific exercises, requires no special equipment and can be practised wherever you are.  It is suitable for people of all ages and levels of physical fitness.  Pupils are requested to wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing (females should wear trousers) to aid free movement.

Richard Marsden qualified as an Alexander Teacher at the Fellside Teacher Training School in Kendal in December 2002.  Since then he has been developing his practice at the Remedy Centre.  In addition to individual lessons Richard conducts introductory workshops for organisations and teaches groups regularly for Lancashire County Council.

Richard came to the Alexander Technique through chronic back pain and still actively uses the technique to help him in his spiral of recovery.  His previous careers in the armed forces and corporate life have provided him with a rich experience to enable him to warmly empathise with his pupils.

Richard’s hobbies include country walking and T’ai Chi. The latter of which strongly influences his Alexander work.  He is married to Alison, also an Alexander Teacher, and live with their two sons James and Lewis in Kirby Lonsdale.
